Meals Ministry

The Meal Ministry is a team of volunteers who have agreed to prepare one well-balanced meal for people at Joy! Lutheran due to crisis or congratulations such as a death or illness in the family or a birth of a baby.

A balanced meal usually consists of an entree, salad or vegetable, bread or grain and dessert. The meals are prepared in disposable containers. Whenever possible, the volunteer will also deliver the meal to the recipient. The coordinators select volunteers based on the location of the recipient.

Because the Meal Ministry only provides a meal for a single occasion, as opposed to ongoing meals, volunteers are not contacted very often. The volunteer can always decline a request if the timing is inconvenient. Since volunteers are contacted based on their location to a recipient, a volunteer may not be contacted for a long period of time; they will continue to be on the team until such time as they are needed.
