Leaders of Joy! Pastor Scott and the Adult Discipleship team are excited to invite you to join us for an 11 week discipleship class.  It will be held Wednesday evenings from 7- 8:30 pm   September 8 - November 17.  We are using the book Good and Beautiful God which leads us through some soul training exercises and strengthens our love for God.  Contact Al Caldwell at alvacaldwell@sbcglobal.net or Chris Luetke at cluetke@hotmail.com for more information or sign up in the lobby.  Classes will be held in the Power House next door.

Women’s Ministry News!!  Please contribute your favorite recipes to The Joy! Of Cooking cookbook!  All proceeds will go toward the    development of a Women’s Ministry at Joy!  We have extended our deadline to August 31.  Pick up a flyer at the Info Center on how to input your recipes online!

New Small Group for Women of Joy!  Join us for a 10 week study on the Beth Moore book Esther, It’s Tough Being a Woman.  Beth shares with us how to apply this story and portion of God’s Word to aid women in their hurried, harried and pressured lives.  Study begins Thursday, Sept. 16, 9:30 am. Small Group Focus during the month of September.  Small groups are invited to sign up to serve together on a Sunday morning as ushers, greeters, communion servers.  See the kiosk for sign up sheets or contact Cheryl O’Neill at cheryl.oneill@joylutheran.org.

C.O.O.L. Food Pantry items for collection TODAY are canned fruit and vegetables. Collecting cereal in September (collecting on fourth Sunday each month).  Thank you!

KAK Fall Program Registration.  Registration now taking place in Room 1-2 off the lobby.  KAK begins September 12.  We need your help to make this ministry happen!  Volunteer information available at registration table.

Against the Flow (AtF Senior High):  First get-together will be Sunday, August 29.  Be at Joy! by 5 pm!   Heading to Christ Church in Lake Forest for Revolution of Love large group worship (6 to 8 pm).  Don’t miss it!! Permission forms on the youth stand in the lobby!  Parent drivers needed-see forms for additional info.

Crossroads (middle school) program begins mid-September.  Check youth stand in the lobby for additional information.

Women’s Breakfast:  Women of Joy! invite your friends!  Saturday August 28, 7-8:30 am at Panera in Gurnee.

JOY! GOLF OUTING, Saturday, September 18,  12:30 at Willow Glen Golf Club, Buckley Road, Great Lakes Naval Base.  $65 includes 18 holes, cart, prizes, and a lunch in the Willow Glen Banquet Room following the outing.   Deadline to register is Sun., Sept. 12. Fall brings the Joy! Bowling League!  If interested, join us for an organizational meeting on Sept. 10, 6:30 pm, (free bowling after!) at Lakeside Bowling Lanes in Mundelein.  We bowl the third Friday each month, September through April.  Contact BJ Sutton at 847-856-3111 or bjsutton7007@aol.com or sign up in the lobby.
