Facilities Goal Team
The Facilities Goal Team at Joy! has been working to define ways to use our buildings and grounds that will fit our current and future needs.
A few months ago, we hired an architectural firm to help us create a master plan for Joy! Our facilities team is excited to invite you to attend a visioning session on Sunday, November 15, following 10:30 worship services. This session will give all of you an opportunity to share your input and help us define the plan for our church facilities.
You can also share your prayers and hopes for our ministry space by leaving a comment to this post!

This team has been working diligently and passionately for close to two years to identify what we think are the strengths and shortcomings of Joy!’s facilities. The team represents a broad spectrum of Joy!’s membership which has been a huge benefit in the discussions that we have had. This diversity will also contribute significantly as we move forward and prayerfully consider what the architectural team presents to us in terms of a master plan for our property and facilities.

I can’t wait to see what God has planned for Joy! Now’s the time to let us know what you think Joy! campus should be thinking about for the future – easier access, softer seats and lines, or more room. Why not get out of our comfort zones and be bold with a building that reflects our DNA so we can draw more to Christ?

It’s been a long haul to this point in Joy!s second building phase.
Today we made great progress in identifying what is desired in a new and improved building.
Keep watching because there is sure to be more news as jJy!s building plans evolve.

What an awesome visioning session today! All the work Group #3 has been doing leading up to this day meeting with the Architects, came to life as the people of Joy! spoke their vision for the future of Joy!
And Pastor Scott said it so well, ” Let the SPIRIT dance among us as we dream.” Come, Holy Spirit!

I am very excited about the dialogue around Joy! regarding our facilities. Let’s face it – there is nothing joy!ful about our facilities and it’s about time that is addressed. Our facilities hinder our ability to do ministry effectively. I love that so many people in the congregation attended the vision session today to brainstorm our facility needs. There were so many great ideas including a dedicated youth space, a new worship center, comfortable meeting spaces, a welcoming atmosphere, a Joy! cafe, library space, etc. No matter what the “master plan” and first project phase ends up being, I am convinced that God will walk with us every step of the way and make His plans for this building, His building, be known and will bless it abundantly. There is a bible passage – Ephesians 2:20-22 (Message version) that captures my prayers for our building and the people who come in contact with Joy!: “God is building a home. He’s using us all—irrespective of how we got here—in what he is building. He used the apostles and prophets for the foundation. Now he’s using you, fitting you in brick by brick, stone by stone, with Christ Jesus as the cornerstone that holds all the parts together. We see it taking shape day after day—a holy temple built by God, all of us built into it, a temple in which God is quite at home.”

Laura, I love the bible verse you used, and I’m so excited about the energy around these goals. The bible verse was so appropriate.
Facilities team, I want to personally thank you for all the work that has been done so far. I am praying that we keep focused on the “big picture” of our building needs and the work that can be done in those spaces, not the little issues like what color the carpeting should be.
I’m also praying that our community is blessed by the changes at Joy!.

It was great to see so many people participate in the visioning session last Sunday! There was a lot of laughter and people engaging in conversation about what we’re dreaming about for Joy! and our facilities. I have truly enjoyed being a part of this goal team. We are all passionate about moving into the future to make our goals a reality and it excites me to think about what our facilities will be like down the road. We have more work to do with the architects but it’s great to know that they are on the same page that we are all on with our ideas and dreams for the future. Keep praying for continued interest and commitment to making our dreams a reality! I look forward to many more people coming through our doors to know the love of God!

I’d like to see some action, some tangible changes. That generally builds excitement, meshed with longer range master planning for Joy. We’ve asked for RuckPate to provide some smaller, short-term changes and larger, further out plans. These guys should be able to be pretty creative!

I’m excited for the future facilities, but I pray that we consistently fill up our facilities now – weekdays and weekends. I’m praying that there are so many people in worship that we have to set up extra chairs. I’m praying that our community will turn to us to use the rooms that sit empty on weekdays!

Joy! The builder. Can we build it? Yes we can (with a lot of help from above)!

If we build it, they will come! (More joyful people, of course!)

I just heard a (small) suggestion for our facilities. If we ever get new chairs, it would be wonderful to have ones with a pocket on the back, and put a bible and a pen in each one. It would be great to see people following along with their bibles during sermons!

Pockets/holders on seating noted for our team Angela!
Facilities team is meeting 12/2 to align on some preliminary information to allow RuckPate (our architectural firm) to start formulating a draft masterplan over the holidays. What a glorious season this is of new beginnings, Christ’s birth and a new look at our facilities. Be bold this season and invite someone to hear about Christ’s radical love for them!

Where can I see questions/answers, left in the box, from the Feb 7th facilities unveiling?
