FAQ - FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
IS IT TRUE THAT THERE ARE ONLY WORSHIP SERVICES IN THE WORSHIP CENTER AND CONNECTION GYM AND NOTHING ELSE?
Yes. There will be no nursery, KidMin, or Student Ministries programming. Those areas are closed. As the family worships together, please feel free to bring activities to the worship service for your children.
ARE SOME PEOPLE FORBIDDEN TO ATTEND THE SERVICE?
No, that’s not true. If you are not feeling well or uncomfortable coming into the building, please consider joining us via our livestream at nmc.church/livestream.ARE SERVICE TIMES THE SAME?
There are some adjustments. The times will be 8:00, 9:30, 11:00 AM in the Worship Center, and Connection services will start at 9:30 & 11:00 AM.
WHAT’S GOING TO BE DIFFERENT ON MAY 31?
IS IT TRUE THAT THERE’S NO COFFEE?
Unfortunately, yes. There will be no food or drink. (But you can bring your own!) The water fountains will be turned off.
I LOVE TO TOUCH PEOPLE. WILL SUNDAY BE HARD FOR ME?
Yes, you will have to put your normal responses on hold. For the time being, please allow non-contact greetings like waving and head nods to take the place of shaking hands, fist bumps, hugging, etc.
IT SOUNDS LIKE THIS IS FEAR-BASED? DOESN’T THAT CONTRADICT SCRIPTURE?
The guidelines that we’ve established are not based on fear. They are based on wisdom. We have sought the counsel of the NMC Church Board and leaders. We have diligently researched best practices. We received counsel from wise medical advisors. They are in complete unity on this plan to reenter the building. The cautions that we are taking are based on wisdom.
MANY PEOPLE ARE TELLING ME LOTS OF DIFFERENT THINGS ABOUT OUR REENTERING THE BUILDING. WHERE CAN I GET THE FACTS?
NMC.church, and this page specifically, is the home for accurate information.
SO WHAT’S THE BIG DEAL?
It’s our mission of Making Fully Committed Disciples!
WILL MY SMALL CHURCH BE MEETING THIS SUNDAY?
Small Churches have been asked to determine what will work best for their group. Some will proceed to reenter sooner than others. Finding rooms with adequate space for appropriate physical distancing is a challenge. This may mean your Small Church may temporarily be meeting at a different location or even a different time. Some are choosing to restart at a much later date. Small Church leaders have been asked to communicate directly to their groups as to when and how meetings will happen.
WHAT IF I’M IN A HIGH RISK CATEGORY?
Those in a high risk category are encouraged to use wisdom and discernment regarding their participation in the service. We always recommend erring on the side of caution.
HOW WILL PARKING BE HANDLED?
You are free to park on your own. However, in order to minimize congestion, we request that you not enter the building more than 20 minutes before the start of the service.
IS IT TRUE THAT I DON’T HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT A LONG-WINDED PREACHER?
Now that’s 100% true. The services will be 50-55 minutes in length, allowing restrooms and all high-touch areas to be cleaned after each service. Hand sanitizer will be available throughout the building.
AM I REQUIRED TO WEAR A MASK OR FACE COVERING?
The CDC recommends wearing a face mask, but this is not a requirement. Masks will be available for those wishing to wear one.
WILL I BE THE ONLY ONE WEARING A MASK?
In desiring to honor each attendee, NMC employees will be wearing face coverings when seating guests and in closer proximity to attendees.
I LIKE TO HANG AROUND AND VISIT AFTER THE SERVICES. IS THAT A PROBLEM?
It might be. At the conclusion of our services, you will be systematically dismissed. We kindly request that you not linger, so that the cleaning teams can accomplish their tasks.
WILL WE CONTINUE TO HAVE SATURDAY NIGHT DRIVE-IN SERVICES?
No, our final Drive-In service will be this Saturday, May 23 at 5:30 and 7:00 PM, when we honor our high school graduates. We want to put our full attention and energy into our Sunday morning services, whether you attend in person or online.
SO WHAT IF I DISAGREE WITH THE GUIDELINES?
This is great time to display Christian maturity. The Bible teaches there are times that we put aside our liberties for the sake of others (1 Corinthians 8, 10:24, Philippians 2:4). We all need to be cautious in our words, both spoken and written. We believe we can have unity in the midst of diversity.
HOW LONG ARE WE GOING TO HAVE TO WORSHIP THIS WAY?
That’s a very good question. NMC leaders are committed to monitor what is best for the body in these uncertain times. We are hopeful that this plan is only temporary and much of what we value can be restored. In the meantime, we ask for grace. This plan is not perfect. There will be mistakes. But don’t forget, “love covers a multitude of sins.” I Peter 4:8

WHAT’S GOING TO BE DIFFERENT ON MAY 31?
- All exterior doors will be propped open (weather permitting) and marked as “enter” and “exit.”
- You will be systematically seated to maximize space and allow appropriate physical distancing. You will be ushered in much like attending a wedding. Families will be allowed to sit together. We will attempt to practice physical distancing (6 feet) in all areas of the building.
- There will no bulletin and sermon notes handed out. All information can be accessed via the NMC app or nmc.church.
- Offering plates will not be passed. Boxes for giving will be available at the rear of Worship Center and Connection.
- Once the worship area reaches capacity, we will begin to offer seating in overflow areas.
