Dark and foreboding skies, seas surging, winds howling; it sounds like an epic scene right out of a Spielberg movie. But it can also be a description of what life can feel like at times. Storms are a fact of life. Whether it is a literal storm or a storm of illness, financial hardship or broken relationships, we all face them at one time or another.  Even if you aren’t in a storm right now, most likely you have been in one and will be one one sometime again.  The people in the Bible weren’t immune to storms either.   They too, faced both literal and figurative storms.  As we examine  5 different people of the Bible we will discover that they each had very different storms, but they had 1 thing in common.  God was their refuge in all the storms.  By learning from them and following their example, we can trust that no matter what storms we face, we are never alone.  We can rely on Jesus to be our anchor in every storm.

Easter Sunday Registration
Palm Sunday marks the first day of Holy Week where Jesus entered into the city of Jerusalem for what would be the last week of his earthly ministry.  We celebrate with palms to commemorate that day 2000 years ago when crowds of people welcomed Jesus by waving palms and placing palms in his path, recognizing him as their king.

Maundy Thursday marks the Thursday before Easter where Jesus celebrated his final Passover, known as The Last Supper, with his disciples.  We worship this day to remember the command or mandate (the Latin word maundatum where Maundy comes from) Jesus gave us that day to love one another (John 13:34).

Good Friday marks the Friday before Easter which commemorates Jesus’s crucifixion and death at Calvary.  We worship this day to remember the day Jesus willingly suffered and died as the ultimate sacrifice for our sins.  Good Friday is “good” because as terrible as that day was, it had to happen for us to receive the joy of Easter.

Easter Sunday (meaning new birth) is the day we celebrate Jesus’ resurrection on the third day following his crucifixion and death.  We celebrate Jesus’s victory over death this day as well as the gift of eternal life we receive as believers of Jesus because of the forgiveness and grace we have been promised.
