Words have power. Too often, in trying to say something comforting or helpful, we unintentionally cause pain. In this Lenten series , "What If Jesus Said…?", we’ll confront common phrases Christians use in difficult situations—phrases that may hurt more than they help. Together, we’ll imagine: What if Jesus actually said those things? Then, we’ll turn to Scripture to discover what Jesus really said, examining His responses to moments of judgment, grief, and suffering. In the spirit of Lent and self reflection, we’ll reflect on how our words can hurt, revisit the wounds others have caused us, and learn to truly listen to Jesus’ voice of grace, compassion, and healing. Lent reminds us that Jesus came to heal the brokenhearted (Luke 4:18) and free us from the cycles of hurt that hold us captive. By listening to what Jesus actually said, we’ll break the chains of hurt and learn to reflect His love to a world in need of healing.
