Joy! is certain everyone is here for a reason and we welcome people to get connected from the very first visit. There are no hoops to jump through or classes required before connecting to one of our growing, serving or experiencing joy opportunities. ​+    A WAY TO GROW & BELONG
Children & Family Ministry where our children can be baptized and celebrate their First Communion and grow to know Jesus while making new friends while working with the Director of Children & Family Ministry, Cheryl O'Neill. 
DivorceCare is a support group that helps you grow and heal from the hurt of separation or divorce
Griefshare a grief recovery group where you can find belonging and healing from the hurt of losing a loved one
JoyFully Supporting Our Troops is an initiative at Joy to help ensure those currently in our congregation serving in our military feel prayed over and supported during their time of duty.
Membership- called Starting Point classes (Spring & Fall) - held twice a year for the purpose of learning more: What does it mean to be Lutheran, Who is Joy! and How do I fit in?
Prayer Team a group of people who are committed to praying for the needs of others. Prayer requests are sent out to the team via email. If you have a prayer need or would like to join the team, email prayerteam@joylutheran.org.
Small Groups-are intentional gatherings of people that meet with regularity for the purpose of  exploring and growing a deeper faith and/or providing support to one another.   ​
Youth Ministry a place to help our youth grow wider...deeper...stronger in their faith and celebrate their Confirmation.
+    A WAY TO SERVE AT JOY!
Awe & Wonder Team visually enhances the worship experience with stage decorations to fit the sermon theme or season. If you would like to share your creative talents.  This is a visual and visionary extension of our Worship Arts team.
​Building and Grounds Team volunteers help keep our building and surrounding property looking good year-round by doing general upkeep and repair projects. Serving time is flexible!
​Children & Family Team if you are gifted with a love of children and a desire to share their faith while working with the Director of Children & Family Ministry, Cheryl O'Neill. 
College Cares Team sends out seasonal boxes will go out two times a year along with care cards telling each student how much we appreciate them.
Counting Team counts, records and deposits weekly Joy! offerings. 
Finance Team Our team helps keep Joy! on track financially, make sure we’re on target for the future and keep the counts organized.
First Impressions Team works to help make Joy! a welcoming place for all who enter our doors on Sunday mornings. Volunteers in this ministry serve as greeters, ushers, communion assistants, refreshment providers, bread bakers, chair set-up, coaches and information center.
HR Team is responsible for managing and adminstering employee benefits.
Meals Ministry Team members cook and provide meals to those in our faith family who are in times of crisis or celebration.  
Nursery Team provides loving care on Sunday mornings during worship to children preschool age and younger. 
Prayer Quilt Team meets monthly to help assemble quilts that are presented to those who are going through difficult situations. If you like to sew (or learn to), or can help with fabric preparation, check out this ministry! Additionally, if you know of someone who is in need of a prayer quilt, request forms are available HERE or at the Info Center.
Stephen Ministry Team is a care ministry created to bring Christ’s love and care to people in need.  The goal of Stephen Ministry is to train and equip people at Joy! to care for others who are going through difficult life circumstances like an illness, grief, divorce, or job loss, and who could benefit from regular check ins for support and encouragement. 
Stewardship Team will coordinate plan and implement a comprehensive ministry of Christian stewardship that includes education, inspiration, and action for the congregation. 
Worship Arts Team for those who enjoy performing, whether it’s singing (special choir opportunities) or playing an instrument (Contemporary Music Team), or acting out skits (Drama Team) will feel right at home. If you are more the “behind the scenes” type consider all parts of our Media Teams: Video Team, Sound Team, Production Team, Podcast/Livestream Team.  If you are a sound technician, graphic designer, ProPresenter, video producer, editor, lighting and audio tech these teams may be for you.
Youth Team a place to help our youth grow wider...deeper...stronger in their faith.
+    A WAY TO HELP OUR COMMUNITY ​
Care Caps provides knit and crochet caps to those battling cancer. All of our handiwork will be donated to the Sow Many Blessings Chapter, an Illinois Chapter of Crochet for Cancer, a non-profit organization of Christian volunteers making and donating hand crafted items.
COOL Food Pantry a monthly food collection to help the hungry of Lake County. We support the Spring Plant sale & Thanksgiving baskets. 
Giving Tree provides gifts to those who are less fortunate in our community. Tags with names and gift card suggestions are placed on the tree, with gifts/cards returned to Joy! and then delivered to recipients. 
Housing First is aimed at helping people in our community break the cycle of homelessness. Working together with other organizations, we can provide homes for all the chronically homeless. 
Joy!Serve. A day where we gather and focus on serving in various projects in the community. (last Sunday in August)
Love Inc a monthly collection of household items to help people struggling with material, emotional, or relational poverty. 
Men In Motion builds bunk beds for needy kids in Lake County every October to support Love INC. A day of fellowship and service.
PADS provides assistance to the homeless in Lake County through serving meals, making beds and donating items for meals. Volunteers help staff the site, prepare or serve food or provide needed items. 
Road Crew helps clean Route 120 in the spring and fall.
+    A WAY TO EXPERIENCE JOY!
Bowling League held one Friday a month September through May. No matter your ability, all are welcome to join the fun! 
Christmas & Easter Breakfast. Join us on these special occasions to share community time with your family of faith. All are welcome!
Golf League is held weekly mid-May through August at a local golf course. Teams are formed in March and all levels of play, are welcome. 
Soup & Chili Challenge is a one service Sunday filled with worship, games, food, and healthy competition typically held in February.
Special Events. various events throughout the year with a goal of increased fellowship - geared for people of all ages.
Supper Club Fellowship The premise is simple: 4 individuals or couples sharing a meal together once a month for 4 months.  
Women’s Christmas Dinner. A must for all women! We share dinner, crafts, games and a ton of fun!
